Draft — pending legal review

This is a working draft. It has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer and may change before it takes effect. Text in highlighted brackets, such as [Business legal name — to be provided], marks details we have not filled in yet, and boxes labelled “Note for legal review” are questions for our reviewer. Nothing here limits any rights you have under the law where you live.

The short version

  • Coins are an in-game currency shared across the whole network, stored against your Minecraft account.
  • They cannot be cashed out, exchanged for real money, or transferred to other players.
  • They do not expire.
  • Today, Coins buy per-server ranks with /coinshop. Uses and prices may change.
  • After a refund or chargeback, staff may remove the refunded Coins, but never below a zero balance.

This summary is for convenience. If it differs from the full text below, the full text applies.

1.What Coins are

Coins are UniversalMC’s in-game virtual currency. Each Minecraft account has one Coin balance that is shared across every game mode on the network. Balances are stored in our database against the account’s unique ID (UUID), so they stay with the account if its username changes.

2.Coins have no real-world value

  • Coins are not money, electronic money, a deposit, or an investment, and they do not earn interest.
  • Coins cannot be exchanged, redeemed, or cashed out for real money, or for goods or services outside the UniversalMC network.
  • Payments for Coins are only refunded as described in the Refund Policy or where the law requires it.
  • When you buy Coins, you get a personal, limited right to use them on the UniversalMC network under our Terms. You do not own them as property.

3.How you get Coins

You can buy Coins in the Coin Store (see the Digital Goods Purchase Terms). Staff can also add or remove Coins on an account, for example to correct an error or to apply a refund.

4.What Coins can be used for

At the time this draft was written, Coins are used in-game through /coinshop to buy ranks. Ranks are bought separately for each server: a rank on Prisons does not give you that rank on Skyblock, and the other way around.

Rank prices in Coins at the time of writing, per server
RankPrice on PrisonsPrice on Skyblock
Nova1,000 Coins1,000 Coins
Celestial2,000 Coins2,000 Coins
Universal3,000 Coins3,000 Coins

Upgrading to a higher rank on the same server costs the difference in price. For example, going from Nova to Celestial on Prisons costs 1,000 Coins.

Ranks grant in-game perks. On Prisons, perks include sell multipliers, extra kits, vaults, and cosmetics and commands such as /hat. The current perks for each rank are shown in-game.

What Coins can be used for, rank prices, and rank perks may change over time. We will update this policy when they do.

5.Coins stay with your account

Coins cannot be transferred, gifted, or traded between players, and there is no way to do so in-game. Selling or buying Coins, ranks, or accounts for real money outside our Coin Store is not allowed (see the Acceptable Use Policy).

6.Coins do not expire

Coins do not expire. Your balance stays on your account for as long as the network operates, whether or not you play. If we ever decide to introduce expiry, we will update this policy and give notice before it applies.

If the network closes permanently, we will give notice of [notice period — to be decided] so you have time to use your Coins.

7.Delivery

After Stripe confirms your payment, your Coins are queued and added automatically to the Minecraft account the order was placed for. If the account is online, the Coins arrive while you play; if not, they arrive the next time it joins the network. Delivery is by UUID, so username changes do not matter.

8.Balance adjustments by staff

Staff with administrator access can adjust Coin balances, for example to correct a delivery error or to apply the refund and chargeback rules below. Administrator actions on the website are recorded in an internal audit log.

9.What happens to Coins after a refund

Refunds are issued by staff through Stripe. Then:

  • If the Coins had not been delivered yet, the delivery is cancelled and no Coins are added.
  • If the Coins had already been delivered, the order is flagged for staff review. Staff may remove up to the number of Coins that were refunded from that account.
  • Staff will never take a balance below zero, and will never take Coins or anything else from other players because of your refund.

10.What happens to Coins during a chargeback

A chargeback (or payment dispute) is when you ask your bank or card provider to reverse a payment. If you have a problem with an order, please contact Support first; we can often fix it faster.

  • If the Coins had not been delivered yet, the delivery is put on hold while the dispute is open.
  • If the Coins had already been delivered, the order is flagged for staff review, and the same limits apply as for refunds: no balance below zero and no effect on other players.

11.Changes to this policy

We may update this policy, for example when we add new uses for Coins. We will change the version and “last updated” date at the top of this page, and give reasonable notice of significant changes on the website.
