Draft — pending legal review

This is a working draft. It has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer and may change before it takes effect. Text in highlighted brackets, such as [Business legal name — to be provided], marks details we have not filled in yet, and boxes labelled “Note for legal review” are questions for our reviewer. Nothing here limits any rights you have under the law where you live.

The short version

  • In-game rules are on the Server Rules page. This page covers the website and Discord.
  • Be respectful, keep it suitable for young players, and protect people’s privacy.
  • Staff will never ask for your password or link code.
  • Report problems through Support. You can appeal decisions.

This summary is for convenience. If it differs from the full text below, the full text applies.

1.Where these rules apply

These Community Rules apply on the UniversalMC website and on our Discord server (opens in a new tab).

Playing on the Minecraft network? The in-game rules are on the Server Rules page. Those rules cover things like cheating, exploits, and in-game behaviour. The general expectations below apply in-game too.

On Discord, Discord’s own Terms of Service and Community Guidelines also apply, including its minimum age requirements.

2.What we expect

  • Be respectful. No harassment, bullying, threats, or encouraging anyone to harm themselves.
  • No hate. No content that attacks people based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or age.
  • Keep it suitable for a young audience. No sexual content, graphic violence, or content that promotes illegal drugs. Any content that sexualises minors is strictly forbidden and will be reported.
  • Protect privacy. Do not share anyone’s personal information, such as real names, addresses, photos, or contact details, without their permission.
  • No scams or impersonation. Do not pretend to be staff or another player, run fake giveaways, or try to get people’s account details or link codes.
  • No spam or advertising. Do not flood channels or advertise other servers, products, or services.
  • No cheating help. Do not share or promote cheats, hacked clients, or exploits.
  • No illegal content, and nothing that infringes someone else’s copyright.
  • Follow staff instructions. If you disagree with a decision, use the appeal process rather than arguing in public channels.

3.Staying safe

  • Our staff will never ask for your Microsoft or Minecraft password, or for a link code.
  • Never share your link code with anyone. It signs that person in as you on the website.
  • Be careful about sharing personal details with people you have only met online.
  • If someone makes you feel unsafe, tell a staff member or a trusted adult. In an emergency, contact local emergency services.

4.Reporting a problem

To report behaviour on the website or Discord, use Support, or [Discord reporting method, such as a ticket channel — to be confirmed]. Include usernames, screenshots or message links, and when it happened.

To report copyright infringement, follow the Copyright Takedown (DMCA) Procedure.

5.What staff may do

Depending on what happened, staff may:

  • remove messages or content;
  • give a warning;
  • mute, kick, or temporarily or permanently ban someone from Discord or the network; or
  • restrict use of the website.

Serious matters, such as threats of violence or content that exploits children, may be reported to Discord and to the authorities.

6.Appeals

If you think a decision was wrong, open a ticket through Support and explain why. Staff will review the decision and let you know the outcome.

These rules sit alongside the Terms of Service and the Acceptable Use Policy, which cover things like security and payment abuse.
