Draft — pending legal review

This is a working draft. It has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer and may change before it takes effect. Text in highlighted brackets, such as [Business legal name — to be provided], marks details we have not filled in yet, and boxes labelled “Note for legal review” are questions for our reviewer. Nothing here limits any rights you have under the law where you live.

1.Overview

We respect other people’s intellectual property and expect our players to do the same. This page explains how to send us a copyright infringement notice, following the procedure in the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), and how to respond if your content was removed. We accept notices from copyright owners anywhere.

2.Where to send a notice

Send copyright notices to our designated agent:

Name
[Designated agent name — to be provided]
Postal address
[Designated agent address — to be provided]
Email
[Support email address — to be provided]
Phone
[Phone number — to be provided]

3.What to include in a notice

Your notice must be in writing and include:

  1. your physical or electronic signature, as the copyright owner or someone authorised to act for them;
  2. a description of the copyrighted work you believe has been infringed;
  3. where the material is, in enough detail for us to find it. For example: a web address; the server (Hub, Prisons, or Skyblock), world, and coordinates, or the island owner’s username; or a link to a Discord message;
  4. your name, postal address, telephone number, and email address;
  5. a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and
  6. a statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act for them.

4.What happens next

When we receive a complete notice, we will review it and, where appropriate, remove or disable access to the material. We will make reasonable efforts to let the person who posted it know, and give them a copy of the notice, which may include your contact details.

5.If your content was removed (counter-notice)

If you believe your content was removed by mistake or because it was misidentified, you can send our designated agent a counter-notice that includes:

  1. your physical or electronic signature;
  2. a description of the material that was removed and where it was before it was removed;
  3. a statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief that the material was removed or disabled as a result of a mistake or misidentification;
  4. your name, address, and telephone number;
  5. a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the US federal district court for the judicial district where your address is located (or, if your address is outside the United States, any judicial district in which we may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice, or their agent.

We will send a copy of a valid counter-notice to the person who sent the original notice. Unless they tell us they have started a court action, we may restore the material within 10 to 14 business days after we receive the counter-notice.

6.False claims

Under US law (17 U.S.C. § 512(f)), anyone who knowingly makes a material misrepresentation in a notice or counter-notice may be liable for damages. If you are unsure whether material infringes your rights, consider getting legal advice first.

7.Repeat infringers

In appropriate circumstances, we will end the access of players who repeatedly infringe other people’s copyright.

8.Other places to report

  • Content posted on Discord can also be reported to Discord through its own copyright process.
  • Concerns about Minecraft itself should go to Mojang or Microsoft.
  • Content on server-list voting websites is controlled by those websites.

9.Other complaints

For trademark or other intellectual property concerns, or for content that is illegal for other reasons, contact us at [Support email address — to be provided]. More about how we treat content is in the Copyright and IP Policy.
